Brief summary and personal reflection on the story
Dear. Professor Morrie
Hello, Morrie. My name is Kim Hye in who is really touched by your story. One day, my English teacher said we are going to have a test on this book, tuesdays with Morrie. So I bought your book in the bookstore. When I first opened this book I thought, 'Oh no, it's so long and the fonts are too small. How can I finish this?' However, as I started reading the book, I couldn't help falling deep into it. I felt like as if I am Mitch Albom, and I'm communicating with you. I truly enjoyed your lesson, so I'm writing a letter to you. Can you see me speaking to you through this letter? I believe so, because you promised to give answers if Mitch Albom tells you his problems at your grave. After I finished reading your book, I searched internet to watch Nightline show you appeared. I was very moved when I watched video you talked with Top Koppel. You seemed so weak but you never lose smile.
You seemed like you were enjoy talking and meeting people. If I get fatal disease like you did, although I don't want to imagine, can I be like you? You accepted death without fear. And more, you shared love with your loved ones. You tried to devote yourself to meaningful things. Although you had your own pain caused by your disease, you tried to hear other people's problems. Many people would have warmer heart by not only your attitude when you faced ALS but also by conversation beween you and Mitch Albom held every tuesdays. And, so did I. I reflected seriously on my self. Did I show much love to my family as Morrie did? Have I ever tried to share my skills to help others?
Now, I am trying to reborn. As you quote Gandi's word, "when you at bed, you die. When you wake up, you are reborn." Before I read your book, I was shy to show my feelings. I was like a stone. I tried not to cry. However, now I try to show my emotions more.
Also, I have a sister who qurrels with me many times. She had said mean words to me and I did. Now, I complements her drawing and baking skills. I respect her. And you know? We haven't been qurreling even one time today! Third, I sometimes worried about aging. You may laugh at me because I am only 17 years old. Still, when I imagined old and weak me aged about 70 to 80, I was scared of aging and dying. However now I'm not feared of aging. I think all I have to do is embracing aging. Now I know as I get older, I'll learn more. This is my time to be 17 years old. So I won't envy twenty years old people who don't need to study math. I would enjoy this time, and find good sides in my life as it is now.
Now, I want to say, "Thank you Morrie." You had taught me how to love each other and how to live everyday happily. Every word you said have influenced me very much. Morrie, can you do me a favor? Could you please be my coach? Could you give me answers if I tell you my problems? I'm sure you would do. If you born again to this world, I really wish you to be my teacher.
I must be going now. Good bye, Professor!
Sincerely yours
Kim Hye-in

I am touched by your letter... Yes, we are. We are threatened by our culture which measure people's value by their deed and acomplishments so people try to be strong and wear a poker face. However, the book remind me of the fact that our precious feelings we do ignore while we try to get more successful image of us.
답글삭제I like Morrie's comment which blames on God because to his eye's God was too strict to Job when it is compared to others.
